The American Dream (Part 1)

by Charles on May.03, 2009, under General Musings

There is something that most people today take for granted.  You grow up, you get married (or not), purchase your first home and then have a couple kids, basically you enjoy the freedoms that define being a United States citizen.  It is the American Dream.  Its a dream with endless possiblities, you are born with a slice of the American pie.  Its up to you to decide how you want that slice made. It may be filled with a  home and family that you take pride in or it could be a motorcycle that you just point in a driection and go. It can be anything you chose,  the American Dream.

My version goes something like this.  When I was younger I found The Wife, we got along great, had similar but slightly different interests.  We were married and shortly after decided to have Number One.  All was going well. We then decided to purchase our own home.  A few years later Number Two came along.  Now we have the typical American Dream, our slice, home and family.  We make the most of it and are happy with the decisions we made.  Just think, the kids will be out of the house when im 45!  Boat and world travel time!  That is our slice, we hit road blocks and bumps from time to time but we have made it our own.

Everyone has there own version.  Sometimes people don’t even know they have an American Dream.  Sometimes they are not Americans.  In part two of this post I am going to tell you the story of an American Dream.  It is an American Dream that after 7 years is still in the works.
